Biography
Carter helps our patients improve their memory, mood, sleep, and executive function through our Brain Fitness Program. He conducts a complete neurocognitive battery of tests to determine which areas of a patient’s brain work well and which areas need some work. He reviews these results with our patients and then tailors an individualized set of interventions to address their specific concerns and goals. Carter also helps with running our neurofeedback program and other aspects of our clinical operations. Our patients love his genuine compassionate style and contagious positive attitude.
Carter received his Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience from Brigham Young University. He assisted with the PETIT Study in which he administered neuropsychological assessments to children. Furthermore, he helped research the neuropsychological effects of preterm birth. He is the first author for the article “Human Figure Drawing Tests” in the Encyclopedia of Clinical Neuropsychology 2nd edition.
While pursuing his neuroscience degree he assisted in drug addiction research and facilitated addiction recovery meetings. He was a coordinator and taught at upper elementary schools for Dr. Jonathan Wisco’s Anatomy Academy. The program teaches children about anatomy, physiology, and nutrition. Carter is passionate about the brain’s amazing ability to heal itself and how we can use this concept to help our patients become calmer, more focused, and happier.
In his free time, Carter loves to paint, draw, cook, and make films.
Biography
Dr. Aubry Alvarez is passionate about helping our patients refine their cognitive skills and find balance in daily life. She loves getting to know our patients, and takes a calm, positive approach to brain coaching. Her expertise lies in the areas of language, reasoning, and curiosity across the lifespan.
Aubry has authored scientific articles for publications including the Journal of Neuroscience, Developmental Psychology, the British Journal of Developmental Psychology, and Child Development. Her original work on human cognition has been featured in academic textbooks including Life-Span Human Development, 9th Edition as well as in the popular media. She has presented her research on causal reasoning to international audiences, and continues to write for the scientific community.
Aubry received her doctoral degree from Northwestern University, where she was a Language & Cognition Fellow and Fred Rogers Memorial Scholar, and completed a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the Center on Media and Human Development. She completed her undergraduate work at the University of Florida.
In her free time, she enjoys yoga, water sports, traveling, and exploring the outdoors with her husband and young daughter.

Olivia is our enthusiastic senior clinical associate who is passionate about helping to improve the lives of patients. At Neurogrow, Olivia participates in all areas of our practice: from scheduling new patients and performing insurance eligibility checks, to seeing patients as a brain coach, overseeing Dr. Fotuhi’s schedule, and managing our website and on-line presence. Olivia is dedicated to ensuring patients have a positive experience from the moment they walk into our office and can often be found chatting with them in the waiting room.
Olivia attended the University of Maryland’s Honors College and graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelors degree in Psychology. She plans to continue her education and obtain a Masters in Social Work so that she can become a mental health therapist and better serve her community.
In her free time, Olivia enjoys playing with dogs, painting, reading books, falling out of kayaks into rapids, and doing yoga.
Biography
Chelsey Dhiflaoui is our high-energy brain coach with a can-do attitude. She believes that she can help every patient achieve success, and that she and her patients are a team with one goal–success. Chelsey’s coaching style can be described as quirky and progressive. Her favorite activities for coaching sessions include weight training paired with word memorization, Colorku, nutritional education, and drumming as a form of meditation. In addition to brain coaching, Chelsey also administers neurocognitive evaluations, qEEGs, and neurofeedback.
Chelsey is originally from New Hampshire and currently lives in the Northern Virginia area with her husband and dog – who thinks he is a human. She studied psychology, sociology and biology at George Mason University. She is a certified CPR and First Aid instructor through AHA, a licensed medical assistant from NHA, and an active volunteer in her free time. Chelsey is a committed volunteer for the Georgetown University Hospital as well as the Lost Dog and Cat Rescue Foundation. She is currently learning American Sign Language and is proficient in Tunisian-Arabic.
Chelsey’s favorite activities include spontaneous road-trips, hiking, and spending the day by the waters in D.C.

Tara is our energetic brain coach. She helps patients improve their memory, attention, mood, diet, exercise, and sleeping habits. She conducts a neurocognitive battery of tests and questionnaires to determine the strengths and weaknesses of the patient’s cognitive abilities. Tara reviews the results of the testing with our patients and arranges the most appropriate cognitive training program for that individual to enhance the patient’s weak areas.
Tara received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and a minor in Biology from George Mason University. She has participated in many psychology research studies and experiments. She is planning to further her education and earn a doctorate level degree in Psychology. She would like to gain as much experience in her field while working with patients to meet their needs.
In her free time, Tara enjoys reading novels and articles, doing research, hiking, dancing, spending time with children, and playing with dogs.

Faith loves being a Brain Coach because it allows her her to pursue her passion for helping others. She values utilizing individualized and holistic health care to address all factors of personal health.
Faith is a recent graduate of American University where she graduated Cum Laude with degrees in Psychology and Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. She plans to continue her education by obtaining a Master’s degree in Social Work.
In her free time, Faith volunteers for a crisis hotline and an organization working to end sexual violence on college campuses. She can also be found trying to pet as many dogs as possible.

Using individualized plans, Joanna helps patients address and work toward various goals during their participation in our Brain Fitness Program. In addition to brain coaching, Joanna also provides neurocognitive assessments and neurofeedback therapy. She assures a calm and comfortable environment for patients while conducting assessments and neurofeedback sessions. Her committed and tranquil attitude guarantees that patients feel at home in her office even during the most hectic of days.
Joanna earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from George Mason University. Her most recent experience is in behavioral therapy for children with autism. She assisted in the formation and refinement of behavioral intervention programs, and administered a large variety of programs including speech therapy, basic academics, and general motor skills. Joanna also has extensive experience with teaching children of all age groups in subjects including S.T.E.M. and physical education. Her commitment to enriching the lives of adolescents often extends to her free time as she coached volleyball for two years through the Fairfax County Park Authority.
In her free time she enjoys singing, cooking, being outdoors, and photography.

Samantha is our Director of Neurofeedback and qEEG Assessments. In addition to performing both qEEGs and neurofeedback, she ensures that all the medical equipment used for neurofeedback is properly maintained, analyzes the qEEG data and composes the reports, and optimizes patients’ individual protocols for neurofeedback. Samantha delights in getting to know each of her patients and helping them progress throughout the program.
Samantha earned her Bachelors of Science in Neuroscience with a minor in Anthropology from Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia. In her senior year, she participated in an undergraduate research study on the neural correlates of drug abuse, which will be published in 2017. Samantha was an active member of the music community, performing with the Christopher Newport Women’s Choir for seven of eight semesters, and joining the national music service fraternity, Sigma Alpha Iota.
Samantha loves to hike, read, sing, and listen to podcasts. She is also an avid aquarist.

Amanda is our cheerful Clinical Associate who loves taking care of our patients through qEEG assessment and neurofeedback therapy sessions. She greets our patients with a warm smile and makes them feel comfortable as they go through our program. She enjoys ensuring that each patient’s protocol is implemented perfectly and that patients continue to improve from one session to the next. She is dedicated to her work and loves watching her patients experience the positive impact of neurotherapy on their lives.
Amanda received her BS in Psychology from the University of Mary Washington where she discovered a passion for Cognitive Neuroscience. She hopes to further her education in the field, and build a career working closely with people to improve their quality of life.
In her free time, Amanda enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing with her two dogs, watching football, and traveling.

Nassim is our exercise physiologist. She conducts cardiopulmonary exercise testing, helps monitor our patients’ progress through the program, and teaches them the importance of physical fitness. Nassim received her bachelor of science degree in Nutrition from Shahid Beheshti University in Tehran-Iran, and Master of Science in Exercise Science from Wichita State University.
Nassim started her clinical fitness career 5 years ago, working as a cardiac rehabilitation exercise physiologist at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas for 2 years. She then moved to Virginia in 2014 and continued her career at Inova Fairfax hospital cardiac rehabilitation. Nassim is Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Certified. She is also a Zumba instructor and has been teaching Zumba for one year.

Iris is our friendly clinical associate who helps with patient intake, setting up appointments, verifying insurance plans, and answering questions or concerns patients may have. She also assists with Neurofeedback and conducting EEGs. With years of customer service experience, Iris is dedicated to making sure patients are greeted warmly from the moment they walk through our doors. Iris is also bilingual in Spanish.
Iris is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and plans on pursing a doctorate degree in childhood clinical psychology.
In her free time, Iris enjoys reading, playing with her dog, and watching dramas.

Sehrish is our caring clinical associate who works tirelessly to make sure our staff and patients are happy. She provides administrative and technical support on a daily basis. She is knowledgeable on every aspect in the office and is able to accomplish each task with diligence. Her main goal is to make sure our patients are happy and satisfied with their experience.
She has a strong background in human resources, education, and customer service. She was previously an HR assistant for an IT company in Herndon. She has also worked with children from the ages of 4-16 at an extending learning facility. She is ABA certified and has worked with children with autism and other special needs.
She is currently pursuing her degree in Bio Medical Engineering at George Mason University.
She has a passion for literature, baking, cooking, and interior decorating. She enjoys spending time in beautiful places with people she loves. She is an avid animal lover and strong advocate for mental health awareness.
